Hey friends, it’s Quick Tip Tuesday where I answer a quick question submitted by you my podcast listeners. If you have a question that you want me to answer on a Quick Tip Tuesday episode, just go to my website, Angel swan.com/quick tip and submit your question. Today we’re going to talk about six easy ways to treat vaginal soreness after childbirth. So number one is to cool the area, you can use an ice pack or some chilled witchhazel pads set on a sanitary pad. Keep your tux pads your witchhazel pads in the fridge and then when you’re ready to use them to take them out of there. It’s so nice to take them straight out of the fridge. Now if you’re using ice, be careful not to ice too much. If you must give your skin a break after icing so that you don’t damage your skin. So true story. I have full permission to share this. One of my best friends just had a baby and was going ham with the reusable perineal ice packs, okay. And as soon as one wasn’t cold anymore, she’d swap it out for another one straight from the freezer. She did not give her a break and she basically freezer burned her butt cheeks. She said it looked and felt like alligator skin. And you guys it was literally peeling off. It’s funny now, like when she told me this story, we laughed about it. Now that she’s healed, like it’s kind of it’s a funny thing to laugh about. But can you imagine in the moment how horrifying that must have been? Yikes. So lesson learned, I know she’s listening. I just had to share that was so crazy. I’ve never had a client or anybody that I know do that. So I just figured I would share because one person cannot be the only one who’s done this right. So give your skin a break between the ice packs, please, I will link those reusable perineal ice packs for you in the episode description. They’re awesome. They come with washable covers. I’ll also link some witchhazel pads for you but you can pick up those just about anywhere. The name brand is called tux. Alright, number two is to sit on a pillow or padded ring. This can be just sitting on any old pillow but better yet a doughnut pillow will do a lot better. Or you can even just roll up a towel and bend it into a ring shape and sit on that. Number three is to use a parry bottle to warm to run warm water over your premium while you pee. And of course instead of wiping use the peri bottle to rinse the area and you can pat dry with toilet paper but never wipe. Ouch. Oh my gosh, I did that once and did not make the mistake again. It hurts y’all don’t wipe after you have birth. Alright, number four is to use a sitz bath so you can get the kind that rests on your toilet or you can have your partner or friend give your bathtub a really good scrub down clean it out really well. And fill up the tub just a little bit to cover your button your hips and sit in the tub. You can use a sitz bath for about 30 minutes at a time. Or you know whenever you want to get out. But 30 minutes is a good amount of time for that. Number five is to take an over the counter pain reliever like Tylenol or Advil, the key here is to stay ahead of the pain. You don’t want to take the meds until you’re feeling really really sore, you should take your meds on schedule to stay on top of it. It’s just it works so much better when you stay on your schedule. And finally, number six is to take a stool softener. This is absolutely essential while you’re healing from birth, you never ever want to bear down or strain after birth. So you need to be taking a stool softener to make sure you’re not straining when you have to poop. Now if you notice that your soreness or pain is getting worse and not better, you should absolutely call your doctor to get checked out. Remember, when you’re healing from birth, things should always be getting better, never worse. You are your best advocate, you know your own body. So if something isn’t right, speak up and keep speaking up until someone takes you seriously and check things out. Alright, if you like all the tips I give on this podcast and you want to work with me you need to join back to you.
